After purchasing craft at the retail level and wholesaling for a few years, he found a true passion that led him to MadTree: enjoying great beers with great people. Chris lives in Louisville’s Highlands neighborhood in a sweet yellow house with his wonderful girlfriend and almost as wonderful cats, Falafel and Franz.

After three years living in Vancouver studying spider genomics for his PhD, Sam grew weary of Canada's weird plastic money and (actual) yoga hosers. So he moved back to the states and has been working the packaging line at MadTree since March 2017. Rick found a love for...

Rick found a love for craft beer early on at the University of Cincinnati: borne of research-paper procrastination and a skepticism that the “Champagne of Beers” is truly top-shelf, drinking fine potables became a cherished hobby of this one-time English Lit major. After graduating in 2007, Rick decided to pursue a longstanding interest in farming by relocating to a small organic market farm in central Maine where he managed a weekly farm stand in Waterville and grew most commonly-known vegetables (and some rarer ones too - - Daikon! Celeriac! Purple Viking potatoes!) Ultimately, Rick came back to his hometown for a quick stint farming in Mason, OH before delving into the tastefully messy world of brewing beer here at MadTree, where he works, drinks, cavorts and feels definitively at home. In his off time, you can find this guy either hiking with his dog Maple or playing pool at The Comet.

When she isn’t working you will find her hanging out with her husband, three children and two dogs. She enjoys DIY projects and working on her house. A self-proclaimed foodie, she enjoys trying new foods and recipes.

Private Events Manager

After growing up in the...

After growing up in the Cincinnati area, Lynn ached to leave Ohio and traveled 10 hours to Charleston, South Carolina to experience the southern way of life. She attended College of Charleston where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, with a focus in event planning. After being introduced to craft beer at Closed for Business (a local Charleston joint), Yuengling just didn’t cut it anymore and so began the development of her craft beer palate. She worked as a marketing assistant and event planning assistant before moving back to Ohio, and spent a year with the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden as an event coordinator upon her return. She landed her dream job (finally) at MadTree and is quickly learning all of the ins and outs. When she isn’t caught in the eye of the event planning storm, you can find her scouring the shelves of Valley Thrift, hiking at Red River Gorge, or teaching herself how to cook something other than spaghetti.

Dusty Bowman

Dusty Bowman

Beer'ded Balded Bean Counter

Dusty was born & raised...

Dusty was born & raised in Dayton, OH where he graduated from UD with a degree in accounting (and a double-major in a certain "blue beast"). He moved to Cincinnati to start his career and quickly developed a more discerning palate. Eventually Dusty started homebrewing with some close friends and craft beer - along with everything related to brewing - rapidly became an obsession. He started bugging the guys at MadTree about a job before they had even started brewing, so perhaps it was karma when over a year later they decided to hire an accountant and Dusty was able to join the team. He is married to Karen and they have a daughter and a son.

Brady Duncan

Brady Duncan

FOUNDER/SECRETARY OF BEER DEFENSE

Brady grew up in Massillon...

Brady grew up in Massillon Ohio and graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in public relations and marketing. At UD he mostly drank cheap beer and is now atoning for his mistakes by consuming copious amounts of good beer. Passionate to discover the beautiful South (or follow his wife's career), he worked in sales for two years before going back to school for his MBA at the University of Alabama. He was recruited to P&G where he worked for 4 years in the analytics space. While in Bama he developed a passion for good beer through his buddy (and investor) Shane. After attending GABF in 2008 the passion turned into obsession and he began homebrewing shortly after. He met Jeff and Kenny in 2009 and the rest is that of folklore. He is married to Amie, with sons Crosby and Casper, and daughter Clementine.

Primary Dog Lover, Secondary Boomshakalaka Bringer

Sarah was born and raised...

Sarah was born and raised in Cincinnati (Deerfield Township, back when it was mostly cornfields) and currently resides in Pleasant Ridge. School was never her thing but she ended up going to college twice (go figure) and eventually ended up with a degree in Visual Communication Design from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. While obtaining her last degree she worked slinging produce at a global specialty retailer. When she moved from Produce onto the Marketing Team, she was introduced to the MadTree guys. A lover of all things Local, and amazing beer, Sarah’s wish of joining the MadTree family came true in December of 2014. She is wicked excited to be a part of the MadTree Family, supporting it as it grows. In her free time you can find her enjoying time with her boyfriend, family and friends (including her dog and 3 cats), enjoying the outdoors and seeing live music. A lover of animals she volunteers each week at Save the Animals Foundation taking care of the dogs.

Jillian Hocker

Jillian Hocker

Champion of the Sun

Jillian grew up in West...

Jillian grew up in West Chester, Ohio. While base camp was just north of Cincinnati, she spent the majority of her childhood traveling throughout the country with her club soccer team, trying her hardest to be Mia Hamm, despising school, and obsessing over anything that could be called an animal. In 2008 she moved to Florida, met her husband, started acquiring anipals, moved to Chicago, then escaped Chicago by moving back to Cincinnati in 2012. A forever Bengals fan (really, it's pathetic, ask her about it), she was finally back where life felt best. As a photographer, jobs were scarce and she quickly got a life changing opportunity at a small marketing company and realized her calling was so much more than just taking pictures. As a Digital Marketing Developer and Project Manager on the adult beverage side of grocery retail, and her husband working for a distributor, it didn't take long to discover the magic of MadTree. Not only did/do they have a delicious year-round Kölsch to enjoy, but the people they employ have passion and invest themselves into the jobs they do daily. To find a company that helps the community, isn't mad about her tattoos, and is as thrilled about Cincinnati and its potential as she is, it wasn't a position that could be turned down. Jillian, her husband Dan and animal hoard have settled in Park Hills, Kentucky where they have loved living the past 5 years. Now officially with the MadTree Marketing team, she's planning on staying put at least until the Bengals win a playoff game.

Controller
Denny hails from Madison, Indiana,...
Denny hails from Madison, Indiana, a quaint little town on the Ohio River. Denny received his undergraduate degree and MBA from Indiana University Southeast and after spending most of his career in manufacturing counting widgets and what-not, he landed at MadTree. It’s here he is able to combine two of his favorite pastimes, beer and accounting. Okay, maybe accounting is stretching it, but the beer is not! After years of palate abuse, exposing taste buds (no pun intended) to those common beers, Denny has seen the light and emerged from the dark side. When not counting beans, Denny can probably be found on the golf course or with his granddaughter (Papa is her favorite!). Denny is married to Beth and they have two sons, Drew and Michael.

Shay is a Cincinnati-ish native, smuggler and scoundrel. As a kid he dreamed of completing the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. That all changed when a high school art teacher introduced him to photography. From that point on he's been driven to continually refine his craft of telling stories through images. Before starting with MadTree, Shay's photography centered around lifestyle and celebrities. He's photographed musicians, mayors, models and athletes. When asked how his experience would translate to photographing beer, Shay says, "It's all about telling a good story and MadTree isn't just a story about beer. It's a story about craftsmen and artists who are passionate about creating an amazing product. That's why I love being part of the MadTree family - it's a great story to tell."

His free time is spent hanging out with his four awesome kids (yes, four). And he has an excellent dog named Scooter. Scooter is the shit.

Trevor Self

Trevor Self

Beer Cansultant

Trevor was born and raised...

Trevor was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. During college he went on a trip with his brother to Boston where he toured the Samuel Adams brewery. In awe of the beer making process as well as how many styles of beer available, upon his return, he was eager to try more craft beer and branch out from what the rest of the college crowd was drinking. After graduating from Miami University, he returned to Cincinnati and started homebrewing with a fellow friend in his spare time. Coincidentally, MadTree had just opened so Trevor inquired about getting involved. He started volunteering whenever his schedule would allow, eventually leaving his desk job to join the MadTree community as an employee. Trevor enjoys spending time and going on adventures with his wonderful wife and handsome son.
